Introduction

Princess Yachts is once again boldly re-writing the rules of yacht design. The Middle East Premier of the X95 elegantly fuses architectural innovation with all Princess Yachts’ familiar characteristics of quality in craftmanship and materials, interior design, and innovation in technology. The brand-new Princess X95 is conceived like no other vessel before. Where the Y85 sets a new benchmark for classic motor yacht design and the ground-breaking R35 challenges the perceived limits of performance, comfort and handling in a yacht, the X95 re-defines the practical potential and lifestyle options aboard with a complete re-think of yacht architecture.

Princess X95

Designed with what Princess Yachts calls an ‘open concept’ in mind, the X95 is the first model in Princess Yachts’ new X Class. Challenged with setting a new standard of layout excellence, which is defined by large, adaptable spaces that can be used and formatted in numerous ways, it offers the owner and guests a uniquely flexible boating lifestyle. Spatial lay-out is therefore instantly class- leading, highly practical and user friendly. X95’s interior design allows the owner to define each journey around their guests’ preferences - comfortable and relaxing, high levels of privacy, or entertaining and hosting, for example.

At its core is a unique concept for the flybridge and main deck interior space, both of which cover almost the full length of the yacht, creating the Super Flybridge – the X Class’s defining characteristic. The layout provides 10% more outdoor space and 40% more indoor space than a traditional motor yacht. This leap forward in space and versatility mirrors recent innovations from luxury automotive brands who have developed crossover models.

Creating this class-defining yacht out of Princess’s design brief was the work of their long-standing naval architect, Bernard Olesinski, in partnership with legendary Italian design house Pininfarina SpA. Having delivered the styling for the revolutionary R35, Pininfarina worked in collaboration with Olesinski to craft a statement yacht focused on adventure – the ultimate in contemporary yet highly functional yacht architecture.

Capitalising on the company’s record financial position and full order book, X95 is borne from fresh investment into the latest technology, innovation, quality and design excellence; another bold new design from a company moving forward at pace, breaking down boundaries and shattering expectations.

Inside the X95

Princess Yachts represents the epitome of British craftsmanship. The company has been hand- crafting luxury yachts in Plymouth, England, for more than 50 years – so what makes the new X95 so unique?

Designed for a life less ordinary

Life on an X95 is unlike that on any other boat its size. It is built for a life at sea, and focused on those who wish to spend significant time aboard to explore cruising grounds further afield. On boarding the boat via the large teak-laid transom deck platform at the stern, a pair of distinctive stairways immediately lead up to a huge cockpit, before the entrance to the main deck saloon begins the jaw-dropping experience of life aboard the first ever Princess X Class.

The lengthening of the main deck to the bow of the boat has created an unprecedented space, extending to almost 18 metres (59 feet). This large, open space, flooded with light by full height port and starboard glazing, can be configured in a traditional fashion with an impressive sofa and coffee table area (complete with a servery unit), integrated drinks refrigerator and icemaker, a private galley, and a unique master cabin with 270o panoramic tinted, toughened glass windows. A customer could also choose to configure the X95 with entertainment as a focus, replacing the stateroom with a cinema lounge.

Alternatively, the X95 will also offer a more informal layout, with a single large open space that encompasses a large saloon area, a full width open-plan chef’s kitchen with a large centre island and breakfast bar, and a connected dining or recreation area with 270° views to port, starboard and the bow. The impression upon entering the saloon and seeing right through to the forward- facing window almost 60 feet away is an experience akin to a megayacht.

Walk up the internal staircase to the flybridge from the deck saloon and another unique experience awaits: the fully enclosed and climate-controlled Sky Lounge which also houses the pilothouse. The pilot house can be fully enclosed with sliding doors and features a leather upholstered electric seat with six-way fore, aft and height adjustment and the option for an additional navigator seat. Just behind it is the large lounge area with soft seating, teak flooring and commanding panoramic views. Behind the Sky Lounge is an enormous rear flybridge area with a covered dining zone for eight and a large flexible space for free-standing lounge furniture. Exit from the Sky Lounge’s side door (or walk along the flybridge’s side deck) and there is a massive forward flybridge with a sumptuous U-shaped seating area and a sunbathing area or spa bath further towards the bow. In total, the Super Flybridge stretches almost 22 metres (72 feet), more than double the length of a typical flybridge on a yacht this size.

Yet intimate spaces are also considered. Walking down the steps at the fore end of the flybridge reveals a foredeck area that could be used as a private breakfast space while at anchor, for example.

Down below on the lower deck, there’s storage for a Jetski, along with crew quarters, bathroom and a mess to the rear. In the centre is the Master Stateroom with large double bed, bedside tables,portside sofa, coffee table and en suite bathroom. Additional port and starboard guest cabins can each be configured as two single beds or one double bed, both with en suite bathrooms. Towards the front lies the Forward Stateroom complete with large double bed, walk-in wardrobe and en suite bathroom.

A Design less ordinary

Working together with Olesinski and Pininfarina, Princess has created a striking new design for the seas that embraces the revolutionary architecture of X95. Pooling such a rare depth and breadth of experience in design, Princess and its partners have delivered a unique yacht that is immediately identifiable as a Princess and yet is instantly appreciated as something ground-breaking on the water. Characterised by beautifully sculpted surfaces, with long flowing lines that extend from bow to stern, the X95 defines a striking design language for a new concept of boat while maintaining classic Princess design cues. It is a powerful example of form following function, combined with elegant design elements such as the ribbon-like flying buttresses that reach from the rear, visually and physically connecting the flybridge to the Sky Lounge.

Technology and the power to explore

Princess has always made hulls that deliver excellent sea-keeping, and the X95 is no exception. On the X95, Princess has made significant steps forward resulting in superb stability in all sea conditions and 15% improvement in efficiency with regard to a traditional hull design. To achieve this result, machine learning methods were applied to computational fluid dynamics results to select the optimum design parameters for X95, leading to a transformation a the well-proven qualities of a deep V hull by improving efficiency across the speed range whilst ensuring the highest levels of sea-keeping and predictable handling. To achieve this the X95 is equipped with a wave- piercing bow that extends the waterline forward and provides a fine, high deadrise entry. The benefits of this bow shape are further enhanced by extending the hull surfaces aft under the bathing platform. The result is a hull that will transition smoothly from highly efficient low cruising speeds to maximum speed whilst maintaining optimum trim angle and ride comfort in all conditions.

Powered by two MAN V12 engines, the X95 has a maximum speed range of 24-26 knots†. With a fuel capacity of 13,400 litres, the X95 has been created with far-reaching adventurous voyages in mind.

The Middle East Premier of the brand-new Princess F45 flybridge delivers unparalleled space, design quality and flexibility in a compact flybridge yacht that features a full beam owner’s cabin, extended flybridge and a unique electronically-controlled sliding transom, which increases the size of the cockpit area at the touch of a button by 40cm.

The F45 is packed with technical innovations that ensure this compact yacht feels as spacious above deck as it does below. Innovations are to the fore in the yacht’s layout. Design

The new Princess F45 has been designed to bring a rare elegance and sophistication to the design of compact flybridge yachts. Designed by Princess’s long-standing naval architect, Bernard Olesinski, the elegant and instantly recognisable exterior design language provides the foundation for sweeping, sculpted features that create a beautifully streamlined profile. With the voluptuous rear wings and essential forms that compose a sweeping, low profile flybridge, the F45 has the feel of a Sportsbridge with all the practicality and space of a Flybridge yacht.

The new Princess F45 has been designed with on-deck living in mind, apparent from the moment guests are welcomed on board. The sociable cockpit seating area seamlessly connects to the aft galley and can be extended at the push of a button to create additional flexibility within this zone. An optional barbecue and sink can also be specified, neatly accommodated aft of the cockpit seating, to extend the entertainment space onto the teak transom platform.

Moving forward, the patio doors give way to a saloon, complete with a well-equipped galley, featuring a three-zone hob, and a microwave / convection oven complete with grill. Fresh food can be stored in a refrigerator or deep freeze, an icemaker and dishwasher are optional.

The saloon features a U-shaped sofa and dining table for 6 guests, which also doubles as a comfortable double berth. The state-of-the-art Naim Atom audio system comes as standard in the saloon and can be specified to extend throughout the rest of the yacht.

I'm personally pleased with the F45's wrap-around glazing which extends almost from the stern all the way around the bow, making the yacht instantly recognisable and a classic addition to the Princess fleet."

Below deck, up to four guests can enjoy two beautifully appointed, spacious en suite cabins, filled with natural light from the hull glazing. The generous full beam master stateroom has a double bed, wardrobes and full-sized shower in the bathroom. Plus, there is ample storage for extended stays at sea. The forward cabin easily converts from twin single beds to a spacious double.

But Princess expects F45 owners to spend as much time as possible above deck; the spacious foredeck boasts a luxurious sunpad, perfect for reclining and watching the sunset.

Up top, a large, well-proportioned flybridge features L-shaped seating, twin helm seats, and an adjustable steering wheel. The dual-station instrumentation and latest Garmin / Volvo controls enable the Princess F45 to be helmed from both the main deck and flybridge for precision manoeuvring.

Performance

The new Princess F45 has been designed from the deep-V hull upwards to offer dynamic and effortless sea-keeping. The refined design below the water line complements the twin Volvo IPS 600 engines, improving efficiency and agility at speeds of up to 31 knots.

Princess’s hulls are borne from the company’s naval architects’ drive for exceptional sea-keeping and voluminous space – their sculpted form, shaped from a lightweight, resin-infused composite, creates a greater internal volume compared to standard hull production methods. The variable geometry of the deep-V hull translates into assured, taut handling.

The F45 requires less power and burns less fuel than comparative yachts thanks to the pioneering hull design, whether slicing through flat seas at 31 knots or navigating stormy waters. With smooth power delivery, it has been optimised for greater lift and less drag, producing lower planing speeds and greater efficiency.

The Settantotto 78 ft will be unveiled in Dubai International Boat Show from 1-5 March 2023 for her Middle East Premier. In perfect combination with the glossy black t-top, the Panama Supremo hull brings out the suggestive interplay of colours between the yacht's structure and superstructure, with the latter visually lightened. The lines of the Settantotto 78 ft are thus now even more sleek and sinuous, amplifying the astonishment created when discovering the large areas and generous volumes of the interior, perfectly illuminated by natural light, as suggested by the symmetrical breaks in the hull at the level of the main and lower deck.

Four cabins are available below deck, all with bathrooms: three large double bedrooms, and a cabin with single beds. In each cabin, the beds are positioned longitudinally to the stern/bow axis to offer guests the best comfort as they rest. The full-beam master cabin is in the amidships area, featuring walk-in wardrobe and a beauty corner or office space, giving the feel of a large, luxurious suite. Sophisticated elegance and great comfort mark out the VIP cabin in the bow. The crew cabin is also comfortable, with two berths and a bathroom with separate shower. The crew cabin, with separate access from the rest of the areas, also houses the laundry with washing machine and dryer. This cabin is located between the engine room and the owner's cabin to ensure the best acoustic comfort for the sleeping quarters; this is also aided by the sound damping applied to all bulkheads.

Large volumes, elegance and functionality are the distinctive elements of the square deck too, where the galley, saloon and relaxation areas are optimally laid out. The presence of an additional bathroom on the main deck represents an unusual detail on a yacht of this size.

On the main deck and on the fly deck, the yacht offers large open-air spaces, with areas dedicated to socialising and relaxation both at the bow and stern. Added to these are the beach platform which is easily and safely reached. Equipped with a lift that allows it to rise, lower and move forward, the pilot station can be transformed into an immense terrace overlooking the sea, thanks to the extraordinary surface area provided by the teak-clad garage compartment. Opening the hatch of the compartment reveals a large space, in which the area used for storing a tender and a jet ski can be separated from the section closest to the beach platform, where chaises lounges can be placed.

In perfect harmony with Christian Grande's art direction choices, the Settantotto 78 ft is furnished with items from the collections of Flexform, an historic and dynamic Italian furnishing brand. The large dining tables, one in the saloon and the other in the cockpit, as well as the comfortable armchairs and chaises longues chosen for the flybridge: all these free-standing elements, which can be selected in accordance with the owner’s tastes, help make the yacht original and welcoming, and at the same time are able to convey a feeling of grandeur and intimacy.

The customisation programme put in place by Cranchi Yachts for its flagship is particularly extensive, also including five décor offerings which reference the aesthetic canons of Italian design, with material and colour choices that exhibit refined taste and offer a tone of warm and relaxing elegance to the spaces.

The Roma décor is an option whose mood is particularly popular in markets outside of Europe. The woods and elegant fabrics used for the vertical surfaces as well call to mind the earthy tones of Italy's landscapes, while the veined marbles lend an unmistakably classical feel to the rooms: the Roma décor provides an unmistakeable imperial allure to the yacht.

The Settantotto 78 ft's hi-tech vocation reveals itself in many other aspects, first and foremost in the use of innovative materials. Cranchi Yachts has developed a matrix of resins and fibres suitable, in terms of directionality and malleability, for the needs of the nautical industry and able to withstand the type of stresses to which a boat is subjected, thereby improving the resistance and performance of the hull and other structures while at the same time obtaining a lighter vessel.

Insulation and sound damping systems have been applied to all areas of the yacht, with particular attention being paid to the engine room which houses three Volvo Penta D13 in-line six cylinders, each capable of providing 1000 HP when required. Crossing the Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard the solar-powered catamaran «NOVA»

Between 2023 and 2024 Fedor Konyuknov plans to attempt the first solo crossing of the Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard a solar-powered catamaran NOVA. Part of project NOVA is the construction of an 11m ocean-class catamaran equipped with electric motors and heterojunction type solar modules.

The first stage, taking place in 2023, will see Fedor cross the Pacific Ocean along this route from continent to continent: Chile (Valparaiso) – Australia (Brisbane), with a distance of around 9,000 miles and taking up to 3 months.

The second stage taking place in 2024 from Australia (Brisbane) across Indian ocean to Dubai (UAE). It will take skipper around 2 months to cover the distance of 5 000 miles.

The unique catamaran is being designed by British designer Phil Morrison, who has previously designed all three of Fedor Konyukhov’s ocean rowboats (the “Uralaz”, “Turgoyak”, and “Akros”). Measuring devices will be installed aboard the NOVA catamaran, in order to monitor the work of the solar modules and on-board batteries.

During ocean crossings, Fedor Konyukhov will run ecological observations of the ocean surfaces on a daily basis observing the presence of plastic waste in the ocean. The catamaran equipped with filtration system to collect micro plastic debris on daily basis for later study on shore by specialist from major oceanographic institutes.

The catamaran’s the only power source are 66 m2 of solar panels with capacity to generate 37-kilowatt hours (kWh) per day.

The total surface area of the solar modules, horizontally laid on deck, is 51.2 m₂ with a peak output of 9 kilowatts and the average capacity to generate 37-kilowatt hours (kWh) per day.

The surface area of the solar modules installed on the hulls is 15 m₂. This additional surface allows for an extra yield of 4 kilowatts per hour per day.

The daily energy consumption of two electric motors is 36 kilowatts per hour, with a maximum engine power of 3 kilowatts and battery capacity of 60 kilowatts. This is enough for the motors to operate continuously for 48 hours, which will alleviate the negative impact of cloudy weather and cloud cover.

The main power plant consists of two Lynch electric motors with a maximum power of 3 kW, which operate on drives with fully immersed fixed -pitch screws (props).

The boat average speed – 5-7knots.
