Pioneering the empowerment of women in the industry

Captain Sahar Al Rasti – The UAE’s first female Emirati Captain!

Currently, Rasti is the Chief Executive Officer of SJR General Group (SJR), her own self-founded business. The company’s primary focus is import oriented, as it supplies quality manufactured accessories with a vision of continually enhancing the marine industry. Additionally, SJR also manages a multitude of subsidiaries conducting work related to creating smart home designs, goods and services exporting, and stable management and horse training.

Upon her entrance into the maritime industry in 2015, Rasti joined Abu Dhabi Ports as an administrative assistant before quickly climbing the ranks to become a Navigation Services Coordinator. In this role, Rasti made great contributions towards optimizing the company’s best practices and bolstering its quality of international standards. Furthermore, she became the first Emirati woman to work in the field of marine services.

Celebrating the boundary breakers

In December 2022, four UAE residents will embark on the challenge of a lifetime.

The Emirates Ocean Rowing Team will be attempting to row self-supported and completely unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean - 5,000 kilometres from La Gomera, off the coast of Africa, to English Harbour, in Antigua.

Facing 40-foot waves and extended sleep deprivation whilst living in cramped conditions – the crew will be pushed to the very edge of their physical and mental limits.

Meet them at Dubai Boat Show and see the boat they plan to row in with your own eyes!
